How Veneers Can Instantly Correct Gaps Between Teeth

A gap between your two front teeth isn’t the end of the world. After all, former pro football player and celebrity Michael Strahan is camera-ready even with a space between his teeth.

However, some of us don’t like the gap-tooth look. At one time, traditional braces were the only way to get rid of the space. Now custom veneers can close the gap in just two visits to Dr. Gabriel L. Polo and his team at Woodland Lakes Dental Studio in Conroe, Texas.

Here’s more about veneers and how they can instantly correct gaps between teeth.

What are veneers?

Porcelain veneers are thin shells that look like natural teeth and cover the front surface of teeth to correct many imperfections, including gaps. Veneers are often called “instant orthodontics” because they quickly and effectively conceal many cosmetic dental flaws including:

Not only do veneers conceal cosmetic flaws, but they also strengthen teeth and brighten your smile.

Veneers are quick and effective

Unlike wire braces, which can take years to perfect your smile, veneers can treat cosmetic flaws in just a few visits.

Getting veneers starts with a visit to our office for an oral exam. If Dr. Polo determines veneers are right for you, we work together to decide which shade of white is appropriate for your new smile.

The procedure is simple, painless, and transformative.

First, Dr. Polo lightly buffs and etches your tooth enamel, which accommodates each veneer and creates a tight bond between the surface of your teeth and the veneers. Only about half a millimeter of enamel is removed, a generally painless process.

Next, we take an impression of each tooth, which a technician uses to create the veneers. Until the permanent veneers are ready, you’ll wear temporary veneers to protect your teeth.

During your second visit a few days later, Dr. Polo checks to make sure the veneers fit and are the perfect shade of white for you. He secures each veneer to its respective tooth with a thin layer of adhesive. A special light ultimately helps solidify the bond.

Why you’ll love your new veneers

When your custom veneers are fitted to your teeth, that gap you disliked is gone forever. And because veneers look like natural teeth, no one will know you’ve had dental work to create your beautiful smile.

Also, veneers are strong and durable. If you brush and floss properly, and take care of your teeth, your veneers should last for decades.
