CEREC — Not Your Parents' Crown

Your teeth are a major part of not only your health and wellness, but also your confidence. Even if you take care of your teeth perfectly, problems are bound to arise at some point in your life. Crowns offer a cosmetic fix to certain dental issues and can provide support and strength to your existing teeth.

At Woodland Lakes Dental Studio, our goal is to get you the healthy, beautiful smile you’ve always hoped for. Dr. Gabriel Polo specializes in all kinds of dental care, along with cosmetic dentistry. If you’re considering a crown for any reason, he offers a faster more convenient crown known as CEREC®.

Why do you need crowns?

Over the years, your teeth suffer wear-and-tear from certain foods and environmental factors. Even with regular brushing and flossing, your teeth can suffer decay and discoloration.

That’s where dental crowns come in. They can be used for either cosmetic or restorative purposes. Some of the issues that crowns can help address include:

The most common reason for you to get a crown is undergoing a root canal. A crown is placed over the affected tooth after a root canal to give it strength and stability.

Crowns are usually made of very strong materials, such as porcelain, metals, or ceramics. Even though these materials are very strong, they can't replace the durability of your natural enamel.

The CEREC difference

Traditionally, getting a crown is a rather lengthy process that involves several appointments. You'd be fitted for the crown at one visit, and have to come back after the permanent crown is finished at the manufacturing facility.

At Woodland Lakes Dental Studio, we offer a crown that cuts out all of the extra appointments and saves you a lot of time. This amazing crown is called CEREC, and it'll revolutionize your dental crown experience.

With CEREC, you can have your procedure and your crown completed all in the same day. There's no need for a temporary crown with this revolutionary crown procedure.

Dr. Polo uses an oral scanner to get an impression of your tooth using digital software. He then creates a custom template of your tooth and sends it to a specialized milling unit that we have in house. Once the crown is made, Dr. Polo makes any needed adjustments and secures it in place.

The CEREC crown will fit in perfectly with your other teeth. It’s just like a traditional crown, only it's made in-house instead of at a manufacturing facility. It also uses state-of-the-art software to make sure you have the perfect fit.

Caring for your CEREC crown

Although a CEREC crown isn’t as strong as your own teeth, it can still last many years as long as you care for it properly.

Caring for your CEREC crown is as easy as caring for your teeth. To keep it looking its best, make sure to:

Most importantly, be sure to let Dr. Polo know if there are any issues with your new crown. If it feels different in any way, it may signal a problem that needs to be addressed as soon as possible to prevent damage.

Crowns may become cracked or dislodged, so be sure to check your crown regularly. Also, make sure to rinse your mouth thoroughly so no food particles get stuck around the bottom of the crown or between your teeth.

Our goal is to give you a beautiful and healthy smile. If you're in need of a CEREC same-day crown, call our office in Conroe, Texas, or book an appointment with Dr. Polo online today.
